Unfortunately, scammers don't take off on the holidays. In fact, the holiday season is seen as a golden opportunity for scammers. People are traveling, preoccupied with events and celebrations, and financial institutions are closed or have limited hours.
We've received member reports of spoofed calls that appear to be coming from Bay Atlantic's number. The members were asked if they initiated a wire transfer from out of state. When the members said no, they were asked for their debit and credit card numbers. One member was even asked to send money via AppleCash to an unknown number.

As always, we would like to remind our members that we will never contact you and ask for sensitive information like account passwords, PINs, card numbers, or social security numbers. We will never ask you to send us funds via a P2P payment app (i.e. CashApp, AppleCash, Paypal, etc.) Additionally, the only after-hours fraud calls you may receive are from our Fraud Detection service. These calls are automated and sent from our system. You will only be asked to confirm the three most recent transactions.
If you ever receive a suspicious call from someone claiming to be a BAFCU employee, we encourage you to hang up and call our office directly at 856-696-2525. If you believe you've fallen victim to a scam, it is imperative that you notify us as soon as possible. Early intervention is the best option to limit fraud and identity theft.
