As you may already know, due to the current government shutdown the Official Site of the State of New Jersey has warned there could be interruptions to SNAP and WIC benefits for the month of November. In a recent press release* they stated:
"If the federal funding delay continues, there could be interruptions to full and on-time benefit payments in November. This could make it harder for families across New Jersey to buy the food they need. More than 800,000 residents rely on SNAP each month, and nearly 165,000 women and children count on WIC for healthy foods and nutrition support."
As a result, we all have friends, family, and neighbors who are facing an extremely stressful time just ahead of the winter holidays.
We're reaching out with a reminder that all members have access to our BAFCU Cares Initiative. If you are struggling with financial hardship, we encourage you to reach out to the credit union and speak with one of our certified financial counselors. Our team provides confidential and non-judgmental guidance to develop a financial plan or budget that is suited for your unique situation. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the credit union for guidance and assistance. Everyone needs help from time to time, and we're grateful to be able to extend a helping hand to our members.

We would also like to take this time to note that we collect non-perishable food donations in our main office's lobby year-round. At the end of each month, we gather the donations and deliver them to a local foodbank or pantry. You are always welcome to take anything you need from the collection throughout the month. Alternatively, if you are in a financial position where you are able to contribute, your donations, no matter how small, are greatly needed. The importance of community support and outreach cannot be overstated in times like these.
Please take what you need and give what you can.
