What are contactless cards? Contactless cards offer a touch free payment alternative to swiping or inserting a chip. Any payment terminal with the wifi radio symbol can accept contactless cards-- simply hold your card over the card reader to make your payment!
How do they work? Contactless cards use radio frequency ID technology and near-field communication to process transactions. Thanks to a small chip embedded in the cards, you don’t even have to touch the card reader to complete your transaction.
Are contactless cards safe? Much like chip cards, contactless cards create a one-time code for each individual transaction to help protect your payment information. This makes them much more secure than a traditional swipe card, and less vulnerable to physical skimming.
What are the benefits? Contactless cards aren’t just more secure—they’re more efficient! Transactions are faster to process and reduce contact to public surfaces that may carry germs. Due to less wear-and-tear, contactless cards also tend to last longer than traditional cards.
How do I get my contactless card? You don’t have to take any additional steps! When your current debit card expires, the new card you receive will be contactless.
